IPL Photo Rejuvenation
Intense pulsed light is a non-laser technology, which supplies a broad spectrum of light that is pulsed deep into the skin layers. The therapeutic light energy is transformed to heat energy, heating up and destroying specific treatment targets without damaging the surrounding tissue. Specific treatment targets might include unwanted pigment, brown spots, sun damage and red facial veins. The body recognises these damaged cells as waste and removes them through the lymphatic system.
What conditions can Intense Pulsed Light treat?
Pigment spots and sun damage skin. The overall appearance of aging skin is primarily related to sun exposure with resultant UV damage to the collagen and elastic fibres of the skin. This causes skin imperfections such as: skin laxity, dull complexion, enlarged pores, mottled pigmentation, excessive freckling and red and brown sun spots. IPL minimises or eliminates red and brown spots, evens out skin colour and texture and minimises red or flushed appearing skin.
Broken veins and capillaries
Over time, ageing, trauma, sun exposure and certain lifestyle factors cause a number of veins and capillaries to break. These appear as red streaks or blotches on the face. IPL therapy can eliminate damaged veins and capillaries by removing virtually all traces of these unsightly blemishes.
Rosacea is a skin ailment that leaves people red faced with chronic flushing. This is caused by the dilation of capillaries and blood vessels. Rosacea can also cause white pimples and blisters on the nose and cheeks. This condition can affect both men and women. IPL can successfully treat dilated blood vessels and redness without injuring the surrounding healthy skin, while greatly reducing the episodes of flushing with long-term effectiveness.
Are multiple treatments necessary?
Depending on the number of conditions you are treating and the severity of the individual problem, a series of five or six treatments may be recommended. Depending of the size of the treatment area, each treatment takes about 30 minutes.
Does treatment hurt?
Most clients find the treatments very tolerable, with minimal discomfort. Cooling devices on the tip of the device cool the skin on contact, protecting the skin while directing the light energy to the target. Recovery is rapid and clients may return to normal activity straight after treatment.
Is the treatment safe?
The IPL system is able to deliver light energy (or heat) to the skin and hair in a gentle way – unlike laser systems. The IPL hand piece has refrigerated technology built into the system, cooling the skin during the treatment, allowing for a premium result, comfort and protection. anti-aging practitioners have a level of experience necessary to prevent problems associated with the use of laser and IPL technology from occurring.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on several factors including skin tone. For pigmented lesions, typically three treatments are performed at monthly intervals for optimal results, though we may see the pigmented lesions clear sooner. IPL can treat a lot of capillaries very quickly, generally one to four sessions will be needed to clear the entire area.
